Through coupling with an incompressible fluid solver, the spring-mass model is applied to the simulation of the dynamic phenomenon of parachute inflation. Our model is shown to be numerically convergent under the constraints that the summation of points masses is constant and that both the tensile stiffness and the angular stiffness of the spring conform with the material's Young modulus and Poisson ratio. Complex validation simulations conclude the effort via drag force comparisons with experiments. "Technical Report" Performance Comparison of IHACRES Model and Artificial Neural Network to Predict the Flow of Sivand River
The accurate determination of river flow in watersheds without sufficient data is one of the major challenges in hydrology. In this regard, given the diversity of existing hydrological models, selection of an appropriate model requires evaluation of the performance of the hydrological models in each region. The objective of this study was to compare the performance of artificial neural network ...
متن کاملVibrational characteristics of a spinning thermally affected cylindrical shell conveying viscous fluid flow carrying spring-mass systems
In this article, the vibrational behavior of a spinning cylindrical thick shell carrying spring- mass systems and conveying viscos fluid flow under various temperature distributions is investigated. This structure rotates about axial direction and the formulations include the coriolis and centrifugal effects. In addition, this system is conveying viscous fluid, and the related force is calculat...
متن کاملModeling and optimization of oil refinery wastewater chemical oxygen demand removal in dissolved air flotation system by response surface methodology
In this present study the dissolved air flotation (DAF) system was investigated for the treatment of Kermanshah Oil Refinery wastewater. The effect of three parameters on flotation efficiency including of flow rate (outflow from the flotation tank), saturation pressure and coagulant dosage on chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal was examined experimentally. All the experiments were done under a...
متن کاملComputational Fluid Dynamic Studies of a Solid and Ribbon 12-Gore Parachute Canopy in Subsonic and Supersonic Flow
Computational fluid dynamic studies of 3-D, fixed geometry, gore-shaped parachute canopies are presented. Both solid and ribbon canopies with a 10% vent diameter are investigated. The flowfields analyzed are laminar and compressible, broaching both the subsonic and supersonic regimes. Results presented include characterization of the local and global flowfields and the internal and external can...
متن کاملA Composite Finite Difference Scheme for Subsonic Transonic Flows (RESEARCH NOTE).
This paper presents a simple and computationally-efficient algorithm for solving steady two-dimensional subsonic and transonic compressible flow over an airfoil. This work uses an interactive viscous-inviscid solution by incorporating the viscous effects in a thin shear-layer. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the Navier-Stokes equations to a parabolic set of coupled, non-linear partial diff...
